I had to do a mandala in class too, except mine was a writing class and I left before I had to do it (not for that reason; I'd just met the requirements for my certificate and wasn't getting anything more from the class). Yours is wonderful and symbolic and almost makes me wish I had done one of my own.
There's nothing stopping me, I guess, except that I'd feel pretentious doing it outside of an education setting. That, and I'd pretty much be limited to a mandala about stick figures.
